Apples + Water are a Recipe for Disaster
With the Holiday Season upon us, I want to take the opportunity to wish you and your family the warmest of Holiday spirit. You're probably getting ready to celebrate so I will share just a brief story with you this month.

This is a tale of why apples and water don't mix and what it might mean to your business. I just returned from a 5 day trip to Beijing where on Day One my brand new Mac managed to collide with a cup of Jasmine tea....and immediately went into arrest and shut down.

Looking back at this incident I realize that although it was an expensive lesson ($800 to replace the 'motherboard') it ended up being a blessing in disguise. You see, the three weeks preceeding this trip were completely insane...filled with 15 hour days preparing for the event concurrently winding down three marketing classes plus my normal consulting work. While I was honored to speak at the Chinese medical device conference for Boston University, I had been so heavily engaged in 'multitasking' activities that I hadn't had time to even think about the upcoming holiday season and plans for 2010. I was working IN my business and not ON my business.

Therefore, having my laptop seize operating forced me to seize the non-stop work mode I had been in and allowed me time to breath and think about my plans for the upcoming year. I was also fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of the beauty the city of Beijing offered and visited the Great Wall, Forbidden City and the Silk Market.

What can you learn from this experience?

Throughout the year it's critical that we remember to MAKE time to enjoy the beauty of life. While this has been a very challenging year for almost every business owner I know, our best ideas and inspiration come when we spend time away from our business...enjoying life.

Good luck with your business venture. If I can help you turn your vision into reality, please don't hesitate to contact me at beth@m-edge.com or by phone: 508.893.0976.
